We meet the first Saturday of the month, excluding July and August, 11:30 a.m. at the Corps, 7 Clairmont St., Thorold, . The members have a brief meeting after which they enjoy lunch maybe a 'cold one' and lots of camaraderie. Some of our members travel a distance to attend these monthly get together's, from Brantford and Hamilton to Fort Erie.
We're selling tickets for a raffle Dec. 6/08. Member Nancy Haworth made a beautiful afghan as the main prize, Bill Clendening donated a wonderful pair of binoculars for second prize and for 3rd prize we have a donation of a 'glass turkey'....just in time for Christmas! Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00 with all proceeds going toward our annual out trip. Several locations have been discussed with the Buffalo Naval Museum and the Brantford Military Museum as favorites.
We were asked to participate in the Time Line Event held at Fort George last month. Due to the lateness of the invitation we had to decline but look forward to being there next year.
Members Wes Kirkby at the cenotaph in Delhi, Walt Blaszynski at the St. Catharines cenotaph and Pat McCracken at the cenotaph in Thorold will all be laying RCEME wreaths for Remembrance Day.
